Information for Pilgrims
This year
August 5-8, 2010
The XXIII Walking Pilgrimage will begin at 6:00 a.m, on Thursday,
August 5th. at Sts. Peter and Paul Church
in Great Meadows, NJ.
The closing event of the Walking Pilgrimage will
be Holy Mass celebrated on Sunday, August 8th at 1:30 p.m. at American
Czestochowa in Doylestown, PA.

Mass is celebrated every day. There are also many
opportunities for confession, counseling, reflection and fellowship.
Rain or shine, the young and the old walk through the hills, forests, meadows, along creeks, trails and country roads, sometimes with minor physical inconveniences but always in high spirits.
Anyone who plays the guitar or any other musical instrument
is asked to bring them along.
A pilgrimage is an occasion for penance and prayer and
requires appropriate behavior as well as the appropriate
dress.

Registration: For security reasons everyone
has to be registered before the beginning of the pilgrimage.
It will be possible for those who have not registered for the
pilgrimage previously to do so in Great Meadows on Wednesday,
August 4th from 7 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and on Thursday, August 5th from 5 a.m. to 7:00 a.m., but all are strongly urged to stick to this time line and not try to register any later on these days.
Remember – You may not leave your car
in the church lot. After registering, you must drive your vehicle
to Our Lady of Czestochowa Shrine in Doylestown (directions
to Doylestown, PA. will be available also at the
registration desk). From there you will be transported by bus
at 10:00 a.m. to the pilgrimage.
If you cannot spend all four days on the pilgrimage, it will
be possible to join the pilgrimage on any day of the journey.
If you want to join the pilgrimage on the second
day (Friday, Aug 6th), please go to Sts. Peter &
Paul Parish, 360 US Hwy 46, Great
Meadows, NJ. Registration will be
from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. After registration you will be transported
to your pilgrimage group.
On Friday, you may leave your car in the upper level of the parish
parking lot. After registration a van will transport you to your
pilgrimage group. On Saturday you will be transported from the
pilgrimage back to Great Meadows to retrieve your vehicle and
drive it to Doylestown. From there you will be transported back
to the pilgrimage.
If you want to join the pilgrimage on the third day (Saturday,
Aug 7th) or fourth day (Sunday, Aug 8th),
please go directly to The National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa,
Doylestown,
PA. Registration on Saturday morning and Sunday morning
is from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. On Saturday evening registration
is from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Once you are registered a bus marked
with a banner Pilgrims Service parked by the Visitor
Center Building will transport you from there to your pilgrimage
group.

Fees - per day:
Adults: $25.00
High school and college students (age 15-24):
$20.00
Children (age 7–14): $10.00
Children up to 7: Free
Senior citizens over 65: Free
Checks or money orders are to be made out to “Sts. Peter
& Paul Church”.
The fees are necessary to cover the cost of drink, luggage transportation,
portable toilets, overnight stay site fees, insurance, medical
aid, loud speakers, etc. |

What to bring with you to the pilgrimage:
The Holy Bible, prayer book and rosary, tent, camping mattress, sleeping bag, rain coat, two pairs of good shoes, appropriate clothing (3 sets), lots of socks (about 2 pairs per day), some dry food, some first-aid items such as powder, elastic bandages, muscle pain relief, bug repellent, dry and wet tissues, towel, toothbrush, small washbowl, personal hygiene items, sun screen, throat lozenges, etc.
Note: Each person is allowed only 2 pieces of
luggage. Please try to pack as light as possible. Each piece must
have an outside luggage tag with your name, address and phone
number. Please tag all items – for example: tents, strollers,
backpacks, backpack child carriers, etc. as well as your luggage.

We are trying to organize a bus from Garfield St. Stanislaus
Kostka to Great Meadows on Thursday morning and also to bring
the pilgrims back from Czenstochowa to Garfield on Sunday. We
have about 11 pilgrims participating and we need at least 49.
The cost of the bus is $28.00 and if anyone is interested please
have them contact Rev. Piotr Haldas at 973-772-7922.
